ANADYR, Apr 15 (PRIME) -- Gold production on Russia’s Chukotka peninsula increased by 5% on the year to 4.95 tonnes in January–March, a representative of the industrial policy department of the Chukotka Autonomous Region’s government told PRIME on Friday.
Production of silver rose by 2.7% to 24.754 tonnes.
Production of Chukotka Mining and Geological Company, a unit of Kinross Gold, fell by 23.9% to 2.111 tonnes of gold and rose by 4.3% to 21.619 tonnes of silver. The output of another Kinross Gold’s subsidiary Severnoye Zoloto amounted to 537.16 kilograms of gold in January–March as compared with no gold output in the same period of 2021, and plunged by 48.13% on the year to 897.46 kilograms of silver.
Output of gold concentrate at the Maiskoye deposit, developed by Polymetal’s unit, decreased 5.9% to 1.17 tonnes.
Gold production of Rudnik Karalveyem, owned by Israeli businessman Lev Levayev, shrank by 34% to 256.53 kilograms, and silver production fell by 11.2% to 40.37 kilograms.
Production of Valunisty Mine, controlled by Russian billionaire businessman Roman Abramovich and his partners, plummeted by around 50% to 169.64 kilograms of gold and grew by 28.7% to 2.057 tonnes of silver.
